lyrical school, a hip hop idol group from Japan, return with another video with their latest single Summer Foundation, out now for digital download and streaming courtesy of JPU Records.
The six-member, all-female unit of dancers and rappers, caught the tech world’s imagination earlier this year with their last single RUN and RUN, which saw them “hack” viewers’ phones in its mind-bending, quirky vertical video. It received over a million hits within weeks of going live, and had coverage from The Verge, Tech Times and Noisey, with the latter dubbing it “the best music video of all time”.
Summer Foundation sees lyrical school record another amazing video, this time using synchronized firework choreography! It was filmed at the Aioi Peron Festival at the start of July 2016, one of Hyogo’s biggest summer events and was made with the cooperation of Hyogo’s chamber of commerce. The video is available to watch in full on YouTube, with its making of video available on JPU Records’ Facebook page.
The digital single contains two new songs: the title track, and a cover of EDU’s classic track from Japan’s “golden age” of hip hop “Kiss Me”. Also included are remixes from their previous single’s songs “RUN and RUN” and “lyrisch no uta”, plus two instrumental tracks.
lyrical school also star as the heroines of a new movie in Japan, lyrical school no Michi tono Souguu, which sees them save the world from an alien invasion with the power of hip hop.
